About
Abit Hoxha is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Nordic and Media Studies, University of Agder (UiA) in Norway. He is the UiA Project Manager for the EU Horizon Europe project ReMeD (Resilient Media for Democracy in the Digital Age) and holds leadership roles within UiA's Centre for Digital Transformation (CeDiT).
His research examines conflict news production processes, transitional journalism in post-conflict societies, and the safety of journalists. Prior to entering academia, Abit spent years advising major international organizations, including the UNDP, World Bank, and UN Women, on communication policies and institutional reforms in the Western Balkans.
Abit completed his doctoral studies at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University (LMU) Munich, Germany, where his research reconstructed how conflicts are reported, examining the structural influences (such as censorship, journalist security, and editing routines) that shape war narratives. His scholarly output covers regions undergoing critical geopolitical transitions, including the Western Balkans, the Middle East, and parts of Eastern Africa.
